Ipsy January “Metropolis” 🏙⭐️⭐️

▪️It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Medium ($24, for full size)

This is described as a full coverage, anti-aging waterproof concealer with added radiance for a lit-from-within glow and there are 4 shades in the line. I have the original Bye Bye Under Eye and didn’t love it because it did crease a lot on me. This too has a thicker, sticky formula and so you don’t want to use too much, although this one didn’t crease on me at all. Medium was actually quite light and has a pinkish hue to it which is great for covering grayish/dark spots, but for my undereyes I like using a peachy concealer better. I did like this for covering some dark spots on other areas of my face. (All product swatches at end).

▪️Pacifica Blushious Coconut & Rose Infused Cheek Color Wildrose ($12)

This blush is described as a soft, sheer, universally flattering shade. The formula is also of course 100% vegan and formulated without carmine, FD&C color, parabens, or petroleum. I so far haven’t liked any powder Pacifica products I’ve received from Ipsy-eyeshadows, highlighter, because they had barely any pigmentation. Although this is a sheer formula, I really like the subtle blush and glow it gives…you don’t need to apply highlighter when you apply this blush. It looks very natural and is perfect for an everyday light flush and glow. I’m also in love with the unicorn packaging🦄.

▪️Pur-lisse Blue Lotus Seed Mud Mask + Exfoliant ($52, for full size)

This mask is described as a 10 minute facial for all skin types to gently resurface, detoxify, brighten, tighten, and smooth and contains many beneficial ingredients (see pic below). Its consistency was quite thin, dried quickly and contains rice granules which exfoliate the skin as well. The first time I applied this, it burned the skin around my mouth and nose for a minute or two, the second time was fine. The only noticeable difference I noticed right away was that my skin felt softer, but a mask needs a couple of weeks to see any real differences in the skin.
▪️The Balm Bahama Mama Bronzer ($20, for full size)

This is a much loved product in the beauty community but this is the first time I’ve actually used it. This bronzer is a cool-toned, medium matte brown that can be used as contour and eyeshadow as well. The formula is very soft and opaque and it worked really well for my skin tone as a contour- I like using a cool-toned color to achieve a very natural contour.
▪️Temptu BASE Smooth & Matte Primer ($35, for full size)

This primer is described as a perfect canvas formula to create a poreless and matte finish, diffuses imperfection and combats shine to make makeup last. I really like the consistency, it feels like a sort of moisturizer-oil hybrid and leaves my skin feeling soft and nourished. This didn’t do much for me as far as creating a ‘perfect canvas’, I’ve been using it for more than a week and it’s performed just alright. I’ve definitely used primers that I can see right away make my foundation look flawless and this one was just not working for me.

Pure Leaf Brewed Tea|Influenster Voxbox🍵🍵🍵

  • Home-brewed teas in Pyramid Bags or Loose Leaf
  • $4.99/Target
  • Range of flavors: Black Tea with Vanilla, Green Tea with Mint, Chai Tea, Green Tea with Citrus,  Black Tea with Raspberry, Black Tea with Peach

I received these products courtesy Pure Leaf & Influenster for sampling purposes. All opinions always my own. ❤️

Pure Leaf Black Tea with Vanilla

According to Pure Leaf this tea “…incorporates single origin Indian Assam tea with Madagascan vanilla beans to create a tea forward taste with a delectable hint of vanilla.” This tea at first has a strong vanilla scent, but has a subtle flavor which I really enjoy. I brewed per directions and it had a nice not too bold, but not too subtle flavor.

Pure Leaf Iced Green Tea with Citrus

According to Pure Leaf this tea, “…uses mildly smoky, single origin Indonesian green tea blended with bold bursts of natural citrus flavors. And real pieces of oranges.”  These particular directions were to make iced tea, but it can also be drunk hot which I personally enjoy more with brewed teas. It had the classic green tea flavor with a bold hint of citrus, and I added sugar to make it a bit sweeter.

I really enjoyed both of these teas (as did my boyfriend!) and would definitely repurchase to try out some other flavors. I also appreciate the packaging these tea bags come in, the container can neatly store your tea collection. Amongst many other benefits, tea is a great way to relax your body and mind.

Smashbox Light It Up 3-Palette Set | Holiday 2016 Collection

For their holiday 2016 collection Smashbox came out with a large Light It Up collection designed in collaboration with electrifying neon artist Meryl Pataky. I’m not sure whether most of it is still available, however this 3 Palette Set is still available online and on sale at Macy’s, Sephora, and JcPenney.

Besides being able to try a range of products from Smashbox, these travel-friendly palettes are sturdy and a little heavy, which I always love with any makeup product and come in a lightweight acrylic case and has simple packaging with neon pink.

  • On sale for $22.50
  • 6 x 0.10 oz Photo Op Eyeshadows
  • 3 x 0.14 oz Step-by-Step Contour
  • 6 x 0.08 oz Be Legendary  Lipstick
  • Names of shades printed on back of palette

Eyeshadow Palette

The eyeshadow palette features 6 shades in the Photo Op Formula and all were very soft and pigmented. You could make a couple of different looks with these 6 colors, they blended nicely and were long lasting but will crease without primer.

(2 swatches, no primer)

Step-by-Step Contour Palette

This is a mini version of their much loved contour palette in the Medium shade. The contour shade is the perfect cool-toned brown that mimicks the natural shadows of the face and all three shades are very soft and pigmented. I’ve read many complaints that the pans are too small to fit a brush, but my Elf Pro Blush Brush fit perfectly!

Lipstick Palette

This lip palette contains 6 shades in the Be Legendary Lipstick formula-3 creams, and 3 mattes. I think there is a pretty good range of shades included and it’s great that there are two types of formulas as well. I don’t really mind applying these lipsticks with my fingers, but a mini brush would’ve been nice to include.

Overall I think this is a great deal, I love that not only are these 3 palettes in beautiful, travel-friendly packaging but that they included products and shades that are in their regular line and so will be good quality.

Ipsy December “Carpe P.M.”⭐️⭐️⭐️

Last bag of 2016! I know this is a late post but I hope everyone had a great holiday season, and Happy New Year!🎉

⭐️Tarte Maracuja Oil ($48, for full size)

This has been a popular Tarte product for a long time and Maracuja oil is rich in essential fatty acids and vitamin C for firmer, brighter, and smoother skin. It’s lightweight, non-greasy feeling, and unscented. I’ve been using it at night and so far my skin has been feeling great in the morning.

⭐️Privai Aqua Gel Masque ($34, for full size)

This masque contains chamomile flower, azulene, and healing green tea perfect for soothing, healing, and hydrating the skin. It can be applied as a traditional masque for 10-15 min. and washed off or can be left on for supple skin if extra hydration is needed. I’ve never used a mask like this before and very little was needed to cover the whole face. It also “dried” quickly but didn’t harden or tighten like most masks do. It also left my skin very soft and refreshed.

⭐️NYX Prismatic Eyeshadow Jaded ($6)

Jaded is a pretty metallic blue-green color. The color payoff is really nice as well and is a nice pop of color for the center of the lids or  smudged in the waterline. Below, left swatched dry, right swatched wet.

⭐️Mint Pear Beauty Blending Sponge ($20)

I cannot believe this sponge is $20…it is the same texture and roughness as some Amazon beauty blender knock-offs I’ve purchased in the past for way cheaper. This sponge is very hard and actually a little painful to try to blend out your foundation, it also doesn’t expand when wet. It pulls at the skin and although the end result of my foundation application looks basically the same, it takes longer and is just not worth it…especially after using the extremely soft Beauty Blender which is also $20 and yet so worth it.

⭐️City Color Be Matte Blush ($4.99, for full size individual compacts)

This is a blush trio palette featuring 3 shades in the Be Matte formula, I believe specially made for Ipsy since I can’t find this palette on the City Color website. The palette is very slim with 3 medium sized pans in Fresh Melon, a bright peachy pink, Blackberry a mauve, and Guava a more rosy pink. The blushes are very soft and although swatch a little softer too, became very pigmented when I applied them on my cheeks. When picking up color it kicks up some product but other than that I’m loving these colors. (Heavy swatch, then applied w/brush)

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer

  • $27, 1 oz./30 mL
  • 20 shades
  • Oil-free; Natural-matte finish
  • Full coverage

Clinique says: A foundation-and -concealer in one for a natural, beyond perfected look that lasts all day. Lightweight, moisturizing makeup covers thoroughly without clogging pores. Skin breathes comfortably, colour stays true, even through sweat and humidity.

Due to the rich pigment level that enhances this flawless coverage makeup, shades may appear deeper when first applied. Once blended completely and allowed to dry, Beyond Perfecting Makeup will melt into your skin for a Beyond Perfected flawless look. A little goes a long way!

Product: This foundation comes in a simple, glass bottle with a large wand applicator. It has a medium consistency that takes a couple of minutes to dry. There are 20 shades in the line but I highly recommend finding your shade in person because the names are a little tricky and many of them seem to have pink undertones. There isn’t a very strong smell to it at all and it gives a full coverage finish without any heaviness. For being a ‘high-end’ foundation it is actually a lot cheaper than most other foundations you’ll find in Sephora.

Application: I’ve tested this foundation out for weeks now and it truly does last all day with minimal to no budging including in heat and humidity. It is full coverage but not heavy and spot conceals without getting cakey. It is recommended for “very dry to oily combination skin types” now, I have combo-dry skin and I never use a powder over this foundation. I didn’t get oily overtime, although will look slightly dewy. My mom who has oily skin has tried this without any powder and became extremely oily not much later, I applied a translucent powder (Ben Nye Neutral Set) on her the next time she wore it and she was matte and flawless all day. (1 layer over moisturizer + spot concealed)

I have also noticed that when first applied it may look a little heavy, but once it fully dries it seems to sink into the skin and just looks like flawless skin. Best application for me has been with a flat top kabuki style brush and a beauty blender over moisturizer. I first tested a sample in Neutral and even though I fell in love with the quality the “neutral” shade was too pink for me. I ended up buying the full size in Golden Neutral which is much more yellow and matches my chest and neck. This is one of the first Clinique products I’ve tried and it’s already become a holy grail foundation.

If you’ve tried this foundation out before let me know how it worked for you!

Ipsy November “Rockstarlet”⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was actually thinking about stopping my subscription to Ipsy just to try out other beauty subscriptions, but I’m so glad I didn’t! This is one of the better bags I’ve received in awhile!  The actual bag is dark blue with gold stars and constellations. The bag is made of a cheaper, lighter feeling material but I’d rather have a cheaper bag (or no bag at all) and better quality products.

🌜Ciate London Liquid Velvet ‘Diva’ ($19, for full size)

This liquid lipstick is described as a long-wearing, ultra-vibrant lipstick with Hyaluronic Acid and lip conditioning ingredients. The formula is a very thin, slightly mousse-y texture but is very lightweight. I really like the applicator as it makes it very easy to outline the lips and Cupid’s bow. Diva is described as a true red and is slightly transferrable but didn’t show any signs of wearing off and only in the inner part of my lips after eating. This liquid lipstick reminds me of the new Smashbox ones and like it is one of the most comfortable matte liquid lipsticks I’ve tried.

🌜Hey Honey Good Morning Honey Silk Facial Serum ($41, for full size)

This can be used as a daily moisturizer serum or a makeup primer and includes honey, silk amino acids, sea buckthorn oil, and Vitamin E. The texture of this serum is light yet moisturizing and made my foundation look a lot smoother.

🌜Benefit Porefessional Primer ($31, for full size)

This is a much loved product in the beauty world. It is described as a silky, lightweight balm that can be worn under or over makeup. It has that silicone feel much like the MUFE primer and I just really don’t like that texture for primers. I do have bigger pores in my t-zone area so I will probably be using this just in those areas.

🌜Eyeoko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner ($18, for full size)

This is my favorite form of eyeliner! They’re easier to apply and usually longer lasting. The felt tip on this one is soft on the lids, and was very easy and quick to apply. It also easily created a thin line and once dried, doesn’t come off easily. This one, along with the Jesse’s Girl eyeliner pen are the best ones I’ve tried so far!

🌜The Balm Cosmetics Mad Lash Mascara ($18, for full size)

This is a newer mascara and features a curved wand and promises intense volume. I haven’t used it yet but I love getting mascara from Ipsy they also typically send the new mascaras that come out and I actually like the deluxe sizes.
