Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Bronze & Vitamin Enriched Face Base

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Mini in Bronze ($25, .14oz/$45, .4oz)   Bobbi Brown says: Shimmer Brick instantly creates a gorgeous lit-from-within glow. Handmade in Italy, this compact features superfine pigments that reflect light and radiance.

Product: A very popular product in the Bobbi Brown line, the Shimmer Bricks come in several colors (Rose, Nectar, Pink Quartz, Beige) that contain 5 shades infused with superfine pigment. These can be used in several ways as eyeshadows, highlighter, bronzer, or dusted on lightly as an all over glow. This is the mini version of the shade Bronze which has a great range of champaigne/gold colors. It comes in a sleek, high-quality packaging and contains a lot of product.

Shades: From top-bottom there is a pale cream, a rosy champaigne, a warm gold, a neutral gold, bronze gold. All five swirled together gives a true champaigne gold color. These are not overly shimmery or contain chunks of glitter but have more of a “metallic” look to them.

Application:  For a daytime look I kept my brush towards the top and got an off-white, light champaigne glow that really ended up looking like a radiant lit-from-within-glow. At first application this isn’t a BAM in your face highlight, but is definitely buildable to that level (2-3 swipes should do it). Bobbi Brown is all about enhancing your natural beauty and so with this shimmer brick you can definitely achieve that soft, natural looking glow. It also sits beautifully on the skin and doesn’t budge or spread all over.

 (L.-R./Top-Bottom; last shade all 5)

Overall:  I’m really loving this so far, it’s definitely pricier but is well worth a try for such a well made product.

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base-deluxe sample ($58, for full size, 1.7 oz/50 mL)

Bobbi Brown says: A primer plus moisturization for smooth makeup application..This oil-free formula combines the moisturizing power of Shea Butter with Vitamins B, C, and E.

Product: Redeeming some points on Sephora’s website I chose this deluxe sized sample which comes in decent sized container. This is supposed to be a primer/moisturizer and be not only a great base for makeup application but as a day and night cream. The full sized comes in a large glass jar.

Application: This moisturizer has grapefruit and geranium fragrances and to the touch has a pretty thick consistency. When applied it feels very moisturizing yet lightweight. When I used this underneath foundation it almost had the same effect as my much loved Josie Maran Light Argan Oil. They both give a smooth, and beautiful finish to the foundation.

These are some of the only products I’ve tried from Bobbi Brown, but I’ve always been intrigued with the simplicity and look of their products and they are definitely a high-quality line. What are some of your favorites from this brand?

E.L.F. Contour Palette|Review

E.l.f. Contour Palette Shade ‘83320’ ($6, 0.56 oz/16g)

Product: This is one of the new products from Elf-they’ve recently come out with cream/powder contour, foundation, and blush palettes all in a medium-sized, sleek, black palette. These well made, sturdy palettes are rather large, yet compact with individual pans that you can pop out as well as a large mirror. This powder contour palette comes with 4 shades for highlighting and contouring.
Shades:  a light cream shimmer highlight, a matte banana highlight, a light warmer contour, a cool-toned grey brown. There seems to be only one shade (83320) of this contour palette.

Application: These shades are very smooth and very soft to the touch. They are also crazy pigmented and you need a light hand when applying these. Because they’re so soft, they kick up some powder when you dip your brush in.

The cream shimmer highlight is very natural and gives a beautiful glow. It’s buildable but won’t ever look very obvious on the face. The banana matte is very pigmented and easily brightens. The warmer contour is light and not a very obvious warm shade which is perfect. The cool-toned contour is very natural and is my new holy grail contour!  ⚜If you are in need of a contour palette-or if you have an extra $6 lying around, I highly suggest you give this one a try. I did not expect for it to be this good! These newer palettes they’ve come out with would also make great additions in a kit as they are sleek, high quality, and pigmented. Let me know if you have tried any of these palettes and how they worked for you!

🌷Ipsy March ‘Hello Spring’🌷|Subscription Box Review

It’s Ipsy time! For the bags this month there were three color schemes you could receive all with the swirling rose design. I really love how big this one is and the color I got (yay no pink!).

🌷NYX Liquid Suede Cream Matte Lipstick in Kitten Heels ($7)

This liquid lipstick goes on smooth, creamy, and feels quite lightweight. It takes a bit to ‘dry’ and feels tacky for awhile before becoming fully matte and dry. This isn’t a drying liquid lipstick at all and yet will not slip around. It is a little transferring at first. I like the thin wand but it’s a little too long and grabs a lot of product at once.

🌷Temptu Warm Glow Bronzer ($27.50, full size)

This is a very thin, liquid bronzer in a very light, cool-toned shade with shimmer in it. You can use this product a number of ways and it’s just light enough to use as a warmer and glowy highlight. Although the I like the simple, unique packaging, it can get messy  when used as the product drips into the cap.

🌷Beau Gachis Paris Eyeshadow Brush ($12)
This is a simple, pretty flat eyeshadow brush with a simple matte black handle. The brush is really soft and picks up eyeshadow pretty well. This was sort of a meh product to receive though I’d love to see more face brushes in these bags.

🌷Marc Anthony Argan Oil Perfect Blow Dry Smoothing Cream ($8.89, full size)
I don’t like receiving hair care product in Ipsy bags however, I do love the Marc Anthony line. Their products smell amazing, are affordable, and actually work. Now, I never blow-dry my hair but I guess this can still be used to tame flyaways and frizz.

🌷Ofra Eyeliner in Green Go ($13)
This is a smooth, creamy, and pigmented eyeliner pencil in a really pretty olive-green color. This type of green compliments practically every eye color and I really like wearing colors like this in my waterline.

The Sephora Give Me Some Nude Lip Set | Review & Swatches

Every year, Sephora comes out with some type of limited edition “favorites” lip set. The Give Me Some Nude Lip Set ($28-an $86 value) comes with 5 lip colors, with 2 that are full sized and 3 deluxe-sized samples. As soon as this set restocks, it sells out pretty fast, but I was finally able to snag one. Nude lipsticks are the hardest for me to choose and this seemed like a great mix of high-end brands to try..and at such an amazing cost! The 5 products come housed in a very cute nude lip-shaped box.

 Nars lipstick ‘Dolce Vita’ ($28)

This lipstick in Dolce Vita, a dusty rose is a very sheer, lightly pink tinted color. On the lips it feels very nourishing and comfortable to wear. Even though I love the sleek packaging of this Nars lipstick, it is my least favorite of the set just because it is a sheer formula. It probably works best as a top coat for other lipsticks, or for a sheer wash of color.
Nude Stix Lip + Cheek Pencil ‘Whisper’ ($24).

The next full-sized item is this lip pencil in the shade Whisper, a nude, to me a very neutral and true nude color. The formula is smooth, creamy, yet with a comfortable matte finish. It’s also very pigmented and doubles as a blush.

Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Color ‘Milky Way’ ($28, for full size)
This is a medium-full coverage lipstick in Milky Way, a brown shade, but to me is more of a light tan-brown shade with neutral undertones. The formula is very creamy with a satin finish. I can see how this color will probably look very different on different people but it is a very beautiful and unique color!

Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint ‘Namaste’ ($20, for full size)

I was really excited that they included a liquid lipstick and a recently released one. Namaste is a peachy-nude color. The formula is a thin mousse-like texture, very creamy and slippery before it dries down a bit. It’s very comfortable, doesn’t dry out the lips, and transfers very little. Although I think the packaging is beautiful I don’t like the applicator, it’s pretty long and picks up too much product at once.

Marc Jacobs Poutliner Longwear Lipliner Pencil ‘Prim(rose)’ (&24, for full size)

This is a long wear gel lipliner and is described as a cocoa spice color. It is a matte formula (that’s why the lip swatch is a little patchy) and is quite hard to remove. I think this lipliner will compliment many lipsticks and skin tones and I just love the chrome packaging.

 ⚜Swatches

⚜I know the swatches look like these are all pinky-nudes but there is definitely a variety (sheer pink nude, true nude, peach nude, brown nude, rosy/spice nude). There is a little bit of everything in this set and if you, like me don’t own too many high-end lipsticks or nude lipsticks you will definitely love this set.

Colourpop Cosmetics Ultra Satin Lipstick |Echo Park, Mess Around, Tansy

Colourpop recently released a line of Ultra Satin Liquid Lipsticks ($6) the “younger sister” to the Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks. The perfect solution to anyone who loves the Colourpop liquid lipsticks, but hates the drying formula. There are 16 shades in the line.

✖️Formula Every review I’ve seen on these has a difficult time explaining the formula, and I can now see why! When first applied it goes on much like an Ultra Matte one does, liquidy..but after a couple of seconds “dries” into a matte, yet soft and non-drying formula. It’s like a regular, creamy-matte bullet lipstick except in tube form and in my opinion more long lasting than a regular lipstick.

✖️Application This takes a couple of seconds to “dry” and then becomes one of the most comfortable lipsticks I’ve ever worn! It’s creamy, lightweight, doesn’t slip around, and matte. It does transfer, however but will not come off the lips so easy even after eating and drinking. I like to apply the color and blot just once, and that takes away any excess and helps it become matte quicker.

I wore Echo Park for 6 hours and it barely just faded around the inner part of my lips-even after eating and drinking and never felt uncomfortable.

Echo Park (warm peachy nude)

Mess Around (mid-tone grey beige)         Tansy (medium-toned yellow brown)
No surprise here, I’m in love with this new line of liquid lipsticks. I don’t mind the feel of the Ultra Matte Lips too much, but these just wear so beautiful and comfortable and are basically just as long lasting. Colourpop is making it really hard to not go and buy the entire line!
