NEW E.L.F Contour Brush | Review

Many brands have come out with contour brushes, usually priced a little more than I’d like to spend on one brush, but I still have been  wanting to try one out. The brushes are usually short, slim, and densely packed for targeted contouring. I found this brand new E.L.F brush at Target and had to test it out right away.

 E.L.F Contour Brush ($6, Target)

Product/Packaging: This brush has the typical look of an E.L.F Pro Brush-sleek, black, matte handle. This particular brush has some weight to it and has a pretty thick handle. The ultra fine hair is black with a white tip and very soft.

Application: This brush picked up a good amount of product, and with the shape of it makes it very simple and easy to make your contour very defined and perfect. You can then blend it out for a more natural look. According to E.L.F you can use this brush for powder, liquids, and creams.

✖️(Before & After, It’s a little difficult to capture in pictures but you can still see a defined line)

✖️✖️If you’ve been wanting a contour brush I suggest you pick this one up. It really does make contour cleaner, easier, and creates that defined line if you really want that chiseled look. I really can’t see how a more expensive contour brush would perform any different!

Daytime Light Smoky Olive + Ashy Brown▪️▪️

Here is quick and effortless eye look that is not too dark, not too light and so perfect for daytime if you want to use some darker colors. I really love the way those ashy/taupe/brown (I don’t know how to describe the color!) colors look in the crease and how it creates and effortless smoky look.

▪️On Eyes (in order of application)

1. Lid & Waterline: Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather ’08 Deep Forest’

2. Upper Crease: Dare to Dream Pocahontas Beauty Book ‘Heroine’

3. Crease: E.L.F Eyeshadow Duo

4. Lid: Coastal Scents 252 Ultimate Palette ‘Olivewood’

5. Outer V: Wet n Wild Single ‘Panther’

▪️▪️I hope you enjoyed this look! I want to do more makeup tutorials this year and any suggestions would be great!

In other news, temperatures are finally cooling down in FL although I wish it had been this way for Christmas-any other Floridians out there? How are you liking the colder weather? (50s-60s is cold for us!)

January Favorites

These are several items (beauty, lifestyle, hair) that I have been using a lot lately with mini reviews on why I love them-They are tried and true recommendations!

✖️Wet n Wild Coloricon Contouring Palette ‘Caramel Toffee’ ($3.93)

As you can see from the dent in this palette, I use this to contour alot. The cool tones in this medium brown shade looks very natural as a contour-to me the more warmer/orangey contours look very unnatural. The formula is very soft and buildable. I know Wet n Wild reformulated these palettes and now ‘Caramel Toffee’ looks completely different! I wish I had bought a backup! Read the full review I did on this palette here.

⚜ As you can see OLD Caramel Toffee looks more like the NEW Dulce de Leche

✖️Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nailpolish + Topcoat ($7.99-$9.00)

It is so frustrating when your brand new, polished nails from yesterday get that first chip the next day. Often nail polishes I try chip within a day, get bubbly as they dry, or get scratched easily and look very messy. This nail polish actually lasted me a lot longer than other ones I’ve tried. My nails were perfect for probably a week and half. This nail polish is supposed to be the gel-like formula without needing a lamp and as I’ve gotten gel nails a lot, this formula is thicker and lasts longer than regular polish just like a real gel-nail application.

✖️Sassy + Chic Beauty Sponges ($1)

I’ve written about these sponges before and they are truly a gem at the dollar store. I don’t own a Beauty Blender, but I know they’re very soft and these Sassy + Chic sponges feel pretty close to the original. These apply makeup beautifully and are very gentle on the skin.

✖️H & M T-Shirt Dress ($10)

I’ve been wanting a t-shirt dress for awhile now. Not only are they extremely comfortable, but stylish, and can be easily dressed up or down. But in so many stores I noticed they were ridiculously priced $20+, which I thought was a bit much for such a simple, thin cotton dress. And then I found these! I got so many compliments the first time I wore it and it’s just a staple item to have in your wardrobe.

✖️Nexcare Firstaid Gentle Paper Medical Tape ($4.49, for two-pack)

A great way to achieve a clean line when doing your eyeshadow or liquid liner is to apply tape at the edge of your eye lined up with the corner of your eyebrow. A great alternative to using regular tape (which is sticky and can pull on the delicate skin around the eyes) is medical tape. This is cloth material and so is gentler (I still dab it a couple of time on my arm before applying), it also comes with more tape and is still very affordable. I’m still not done with 1 roll that I’ve been using for months now.

✖️Milani Moisture Lock Lip Treatment ’03 Rejuvinating Peach Mango’ ($8.89)

I purchased this not too long ago and I’ve been using it every night since. Using this overnight gives you very soft lips the next day (ready for wearing liquid lipsticks) and prevents cracking and dryness. I really love the easy to use applicator and how there are so many different options in this line for every specific problem you may be experiencing with your lips. Read my full review here!

✖️Honest Tea Half Tea & Half Lemonade Organic

This tea is amazing! Not only is it organic, it’s 100 calories, contains only 6 ingredients, and is affordable. It’s not too sweet, not too plain and very refreshing. A lot of teas like Arizona have high fructose corn syrup, which I always try to stay away from and so this is a great and great-tasting replacement.

Ipsy January ‘All Eyes On You’|Subscription Box Review

⚜This is the first bag of the new year! So excited for a whole new year of trying new products. This month’s bag is a medium sized  colorful, retro-looking bag. Here’s what’s inside:

▫️Hey Honey Open Your Eyes Eye Contour Lifting Fluid ($28, for full size)

This is a fast absorbing firming fluid  that is supposed to minimize the appearance of fine lines, puffiness, hydrate and tighten the skin around the eyes for a visibly lifted effect. It moisturizes and soothes with natural extracts of honey, mallow, and green tea. I’m really excited about this product because I have puffiness around my eyes and a few lines underneath that really bother me. It’d be great if this actually works!

▫️Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes Curl Mascara ($21.95)

If you want to never have to buy mascaras again, Ipsy is the subscription to get. I just went through a couple of mini ones and now after a couple of bags, I’m completely replenished! This mascara is described as a curling mascara that continually curls lashes throughout the day with a unique synthesis of Moringa Seed resin that dries down and holds the curl. I can’t wait to try this mascara as my lashes are stick straight.

▫️City Color Eyeshadow Trio ‘Falling Leaves’ ($5.99)

This shadow trio is exclusively made for Ipsy and can be purchased on the City Color website. ‘Falling Leaves’ has warm, rosy gold and terracotta shades very similar to the Milani Eyeshadow Palette in ‘Earthy Elements’. These shadows are soft and very pigmented. (Swatches over Nyx ‘Milk’).

▫️The Balm Mr.Write (Now) Eyeliner ‘Jac B. Bronze’ ($17)

This is a new collection of satin smooth retractable eyeliners in muted colors from theBalm. The color I received is ‘Jac B.Bronze’ an olive-gold green color that would compliment every eye color. This eyeliner doesn’t smudge at all and the swatch was pretty difficult to remove. The eyeliner at first was pretty stiff and not until I squished the tip down a bit did it become creamier and easier to apply.

▫️Promise Organic Argan Creme Facial Lotion With Olive Oil ($14.99, for full size)
This is described as a gentle combination of Morroccan Argan and Olive Oil to deeply moisturized and replenish. The consistency of this lotion is really thin and lightweight perfect for daytime, I usually use a heavier cream at night. It smells like lemons and absorbed into the skin quickly.

❄️This is going to be my third year having a subscription to Ipsy and it’s still so much fun to get a little bag of goodies each month!

Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil Light | Review

What it is: “A featherweight version of the champion of oils, 100% Pure Argan Oil Light moisturizes deeply and absorbs quickly, leaving a semi-matte finish. First cold-pressed to protect its healthy, hydrating properties and ideal for all skin types, especially breakout prone and sensitive.”

Three sizes: To Go (15 mL/0.5 fl oz. $16), Regular (50 mL/1.7 fl oz. $48) , Luxury (120 mL/4 fl oz. $96)

Product: This is the To Go size I received in a recent Ipsy bag. This can be used on your hair, skin, and nails and is supposed to hydrate, balance, repair, and replenish. According to the website, even oily skin types can use this as it fights oil with oil, and actually decreases sebum production with repeated use.

Application: I used two drops for my hair and it instantly made it softer, manageable, and was long lasting. The oil isn’t heavy or leave residue on your fingers. For the face, you only need a small amount and it again doesn’t feel greasy at all. It doesn’t absorb into the skin too much though as other moisturizers do. I’ve used this twice underneath my foundation and it made the foundation apply smoothly and have a beautiful natural-looking glow. As time went by, it started looking more dewy, but never oily. If you have very oily skin I would suggest adding a powder on top.

If you find that your foundation is looking dull, drying, and flat a product like this will really help your skin to just overall look and feel better.

Colourpop Kitty Set & Puppy Love Supershock Shadow | Review & Swatches

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lipstick Mini Set ‘Kitty’ ($20)

Colourpop recently came out with two Ultra Matte lipstick mini sets. Foxy has five Ultra Matte lippies already in the regular collection: Beeper, Clueless, Tulle, Creeper, and More Better. The Kitty set comes with five all brand new shades: Bianca, Times Square, Be Merry, Glitter, and Last Dance. These mini lippies are 0.9 g /0.0317 oz whereas a regular sized one is 3.2 g / 0.1128 oz.

Product/Packaging These lippies are very small with an almost regular sized applicator. Each set is $20 and still available on the Colourpop website. The colors in this Kitty set are:

Bianca- soft dusty pink (close to Trap, but more pink tones, lighter in person)

Times Square- muted pink beige (to me it’s more warm beige, close to KVD Bow n Arrow)

Be Merry- mid toned true warm pink (a very bright warm pink)

Glitter- rich red violet (almost looks magenta)

Last Dance- true brick red (has orange red undertones making it look like a rusty red-orange color)

Application As with any liquid lipstick, application looks best when your lips are exfoliated and moisturized. All of these shades (except Bianca which had some flaking), were smooth, comfortable, lightweight, not too drying, and had no flakiness. The newer lipsticks coming out take a little longer to dry than the first batch I purchased, then afterwards these are transfer-proof.

I really loved all of these mini lippies especially Times Square and Last Dance (which in person comes off more of a rust color) and hope they can make these really unique colors permanent!

Colourpop SuperShock Eyeshadow ‘Puppy Love’ ($5)

Product/Packaging This is a pearlized Super Shock shadow in the shade Puppy Love. All proceeds of this shadow go to a great charity which is working to end the killings of dogs and cats in animal shelters. This special edition eyeshadow has a cute holographic paw print on the cap and is described as a soft peach with pink and gold duo chrome.

Application As with all Colourpop eyeshadows, the best application is to apply with your finger. I also like to apply them wet, they become more pigmented and allow the duo chrome to really show. Puppy Love is a really unique champagne, gold, pinkish duo chrome that is very subtle yet beautiful on the lid. It’s much more unique in person than in pictures!
