Ipsy November ‘Beauty Blast’☄💫🌙|Subscription Box Review

Ipsy came early this month for me and let’s just take a minute to admire this month’s bag…

This has got to be my favorite bag so far! It’s so colorful, unique, and beautiful I can’t stop looking at it! That being said, unfortunately the contents this month, we’re not my favorite.

💫Beaute Basics Gel Liner + Brush (?)

I’ve never heard of this brand and actually thought this was going to be a black liner. It is navy blue and has a very whipped, creamy formula. It’s nice that it came with the gel liner brush, however for me these bristles are very soft, flimsy and make it more difficult to apply a clean line.

💫Trestique Matte Lip Crayon ‘Florence Fig’ ($24, for full size)

This is a truly matte lip crayon that is creamy, opaque and long lasting. The color is a very natural, flattering color that would look good all year round. This also had a staining effect and is very comfortable to wear.

💫Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara ($20, for full size)

I’ve recently gone through many mini mascaras I’ve received in the past and so I’m happy that now I’m receiving new ones I’ve never tried before! This is supposed to be a fiber mascara over a voluminzing one with 104% volume increase. With a pretty basic cone-shaped brush we’ll see how this mascara turns out!

💫Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil Light ($16)

This Argan oil is supposed to be organic, nourishing, antioxidant, with balancing nutrients and suitable for hair and skin. It does have a pretty lightweight texture with no scent and softened the ends of my hair.I have several Argan oils received from Ipsy and so wasn’t too excited about this product.

💫Coolway Stronghold Spray ($19.95, for full size)

Two hair products in one bag! And I have it checked off in my preferences…this is my only reason for not liking this month’s contents. I haven’t tried this out yet but it’s supposed to be voluminzing and humidity resistant.

That its for my  November Ipsy bag! On one hand I love the bag itself, on the other, getting two hair care products was kind of the buzzkill. What was in your Ipsy bag this month?

Boxycharm October ‘Faces of the Moon’🌘🌑🌒|Subscription Box Review

This is my first Boxycharm ever! Boxycharm is $21/month and usually features all full-sized items. They also include a really handy card that shows the details on each product along wth the prices. October’s theme was Faces of the Moon and is all about embracing who you truly are, allowing all your “faces” to show. I really like the positive message they included and I’m assuming they do every month.

🌖Palmetto Derma Rejuvenating Antioxidant Mask ($64)
This is a full-size soft clay mask that is supposed to cleanse pores and rejuvenate your skin. This mask is worth 3x the cost of the box! It has quite a strong smell which doesn’t bother me much if the product works, and after leaving it on for about 20 min., left my skin looking brighter, clearer, and cleaner. I also feel like my foundation I applied the next day looked nicer.

🌗Doucce Punk Volumizer Mascara ($24)This is one bulky mascara! As I said in my Ipsy post, I have a couple of open mascaras already so I’ll be saving this one and not opening it at all until I use up the others. This brush features short and long bristles to separate and add extreme volume to the lashes, we’ll see how this works later on.

  🌘Bellapierre Cheek & Lip Stain ($19.99)

This cheek and lip stain is a muted pink/coral color, that as a blush would suit many skin tones. As a lip stain however it comes off a little lighter. As a cheek stain it blends really well into the skin and dries instantly, almost looking like a regular powder blush. On the lips, it never dries and acts as a pigmented lip balm.

   🌑Lord & Berry Line/Shade Eyeliner ($18)
This is a waterproof kajal/kohl black liner that I actually received a mini sized in a past Ipsy bag. This liner is pigmented, creamy, and just a really good liner to have. I was excited to see this in here because I actually stopped using my mini because it was almost gone!

🌒Cult Cosmetics Nail Polish ($12)This nail polish is a cool-toned steel gray. I haven’t tried it myself but I did see this on someone and its a very beautiful color and perfect for fall/winter time!

I really enjoyed this first experience with Boxycharm. I liked how all the products and the overall look of the box was dark and went with the theme.

Ipsy October ‘Alter Ego’ 🍂🎃🍂|Subscription Box Review

Ipsy time! I know this post is way late but there was an issue with shipping, and so it arrived late. The theme this month was Alter Ego and the bag reflects that with one side being a matte black color and the other a metallic gold. This bag is really sturdy and well made and one of the best they’ve done as far as quality.

🍂Meet Matt(e) Hughes liquid lipstick ‘Committed’ ($17, for full size)
I was so excited to see this in the bag! I love liquid lipsticks and heard that these were some of the most comfortable to wear-and it’s true. This is a creamy formula that goes on like a Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream it takes awhile to dry, but when it does it is completely transfer proof. It also feels like you are wearing absolutely nothing…no dryness, uncomfortableness, etc. ‘Committed’ is also a really pretty pinky nude that is really similar to my own lip color.

🍂It Cosmetics Hello Lashes 5-in-1 Mascara ($24, for full size)I love receiving mascaras! And ipsy gives out plenty! This mascara comes with many claims including a lash volume increase of 430%! It also includes many lash-enhancing ingredients like peptides, collagen, jojoba, acai, and vitamins. I’d love to test this out right away but I have a couple of mascaras already open and so keeping this closed for now, but will update!

Here’s a pic of the brush from the  itcosmetics website:🍂Eva NYC Therapy Session Hair Mask ($30, for full size)

This is a hair mask infused with Argan oil and vitamins a & e and is supposed to strengthen and revitalize your hair. After shampooing you simply leave it in for 5-10 minutes and rinse out. I’ve only used it once but it did leave my hair soft and smelling amazing.

🍂Peter Lamas Exfoliating Pumpkin Facial Scrub ($28 for full size)

I was really in need of a good face scrub and this pumpkin scrub served me well. It’s a gel-like consistency with gentle pumpkin enzymes, pumpkin oil, apricot grains, aloe, and vitamin A. I wish it’d smell a bit more like pumpkin pie, it has a sort of vanilla scent but it works really well at gently exfoliating the skin.

 🍂Emite Makeup Professional Slant Tweezer

This was the item I was least excited for, I have Elf tweezers that are my holy grail, however these are up to par with them. They are sturdy and not cheap feeling at all. It grabs the hairs really well and are just overall really great tweezers.

 🍂Temptu S/B Highlighter ‘Champagne Shimmer’ ($27.50)

I redeemed my Ipsy points for this highlighter by Temptu, a brand known for their airbrush makeup. This is a liquid highlighter, it has a very thin consistency and blends into the skin very seamlessly. The color is a gold/champagne color and although looks very shimmery it actually translated into the skin as a beautiful glow. No glitter here at all. Despite the swatch below, it is quite subtle and yet gives a very beautiful, glow-from-within look on the skin which is what a highlighter should look like on the face.

That is it for my ipsy bag this month, I’m overall pleased with its contents and the bag itself. It was worth the wait!

Special Occasion Makeup|step-by-step tutorial

Hey all, in this post I’m going to be doing something a little different. I’ll be showing a full makeup routine step-by-step for any special occasion. My model for this post is my friend who is graciously always willing to be a guniea pig! It’s also much easier to take pictures and really show how to achieve this look.

  • Start with a clean face, I applied Rose Water with a cotton round to help soothe and refresh the skin.
  • I next combined Graftobian Oxyderm Moisturizer with Smashbox Photofinish Primer.

    Start with the Eyes

    • I always do eye makeup and brows first in case of fallout and so the base doesn’t get smudged.
    •   I first applied medical tape to both eyes. Base: Nyx Jumbo Pencil ‘Milk’
    • Transition: I used a mix of orange/taupe (Ofra).
    • Crease: Taupe and Sable (Lorac Pro) blended into transition.
    • Outer v: Espresso (Lorac Pro)blended, and then applied more of crease and transition color.
    • Lid: Nude (Lorac Pro).
    • Black eyeshadow as a faint eyeliner, and Red Cherry lashes #74.

    • I mixed Hard Candy Sheer Glow liquid illuminator with Graftobian HD Creme foundation, then used concealer under the eyes.
    • This is where you’d also use color correction if needed. Right after concealer I heavily pack on Ben Nye Banana powder and let that set.

    Contour, Blush, Highlight & Lips

    • For blush I used the upper left peachy color from the E.L.F Dark palette. Contour and highlight come from the It Cosmetics My Scultped Face palette. There are so many options in this palette, it’s a must have.
    • After, I swept away the Banana Powder and the undereye is set! Spray Ben Nye Final Seal to make your makeup last all day, and then finish with lips, Maybelline Color Sensational Matte ‘Toast to You’.

    Final Look:

☄☄☄                                                                That is it for my step by step Special Occasion makeup routine! I hope you liked this different post and this gave you some ideas.
