Princess vs. Villain–Ariel🐠🐬

This is a fun series on wearable makeup inspired by the princesses/ heroes and villains of our favorite animated movies. The villains usually have heavier, more dramatic makeup on, while the princesses have more neutral looks. So, I drew ideas from their outfits, jewelry, and background. Enjoy! ✨

IMG_0239.JPG
🐚For this look I drew inspiration from Ariel’s tail, shell bra, hair, and just the ocean all around her! The camera didn’t really capture it but in the crease I applied an aqua color that matches her tail perfectly. This is actually a very wearable look if your feeling bold one day!

Darling Girl Cosmetics Haul/Review

IMG_9972.JPGI was so excited to finally receive my order from Darling Girl! This is an indie brand that makes some beautiful pigments, blushes and much more. The website also has some great swatches and photos of each product so it’s very easy to use. The turn around time when I ordered was 20-22 business days and it took a little under a month to get here.
I ordered four eyeshadows in the petit size (2.50) and the blogger review pack which let’s you choose either four eyeshadow or blush samples and one petit size.

IMG_9973.JPG(top row is with Maybelline Color Tattoo ‘Just Beige’; bttm row is with Nyx Jumbo Pencil ‘Black Bean’)
▫️With using the beige base (top) the colors came out just as they are, when using the black base (bttm) they came out either darker, or with different colored shifts showing through.

Eyeshadow pigment ‘Barabella’
On the DG website it is described as “..a metallic melon-y gold with a red/orange flash”. This is a muted copper when on a skin tone base and becomes more vibrant under the black base. It looks really pretty and natural on the eyes.

IMG_0196.JPG
Matte I’d Like To Find collection ‘Untamed Desire’
DG website “buttery smooth powder blue” This collection is an all matte collection with names based on romance novels. I want every single shadow! They go from muted, light colors to vibrant.

IMG_0198-0.JPG
Oh The Horror collection ‘Here’s Johnny’
This is a Halloween themed collection inspired by classic movie villains and monsters. DG describes this as “blackened red with color shifting sparkle”. On me it came out with a more purple shift.

IMG_0199-0.JPG
Oh The Horror collection ‘King Kong’
DG: “black with strong turquoise flash and silver and gold sparks”. This is such a unique color to experiment with.

IMG_0197.JPG
Darling Grrl collection ‘Ruby Soho’
DG: “ruby red with lavender shimmers”. This was my gift with purchase, at first I was a little wary because it’s a red shade, but put over a black base it becomes a cool magenta shade with purple sparkle.

IMG_0200.JPG
Soft Focus Blush ‘Paradise Pink’
This is peachy pink color and would look great in medium to tan skin tones. It shows up a bit more than the swatch shows but is a light natural color.

IMG_0202.JPG
Soft Focus Blush ‘Kiss The Frog’
This is an interesting plum wine color and applies very smoothly as do all of these blushes!

IMG_0203.JPGSoft Focus Blush ‘The Magic Lamp’
This is a “mid tone lavender with reddish undertones” on me I didn’t really see any reddish undertones but it is a really cool blush color! I’ve always wanted to try a purple blush!

IMG_0204.JPGSoft Focus Blush ‘Cherry Bomb’
This is a bright red color; it applies with more of a pink tone, you would definitely need a light hand with this one.

🌷That’s it for my Darling Girl Cosmetics haul/review can’t wait to try some fun looks with these! Thanks for reading! ❤️Michelle

🍭Ipsy October “Beauty Candy”🍭

This month’s theme is “Beauty Candy” perfect for Halloween…I’m really loving the bag and especially the color! I’m overall pleased with my bag, I just wish our preferences were taken more into consideration (not a fan of hair products and hand creams!)
Here’s what I got in my bag:

IMG_9509.JPG
🍭Ecru New York Acacia Protein BB Cream
This is a bb cream product for the hair. It’s supposd to be very moisturizing and lightweight. I don’t use hair care products much; but I’m happy with the size we recieved. I’m going to be trying this out and see how I like it.
🍬Mica Beauty Mineral Eyeshadow ‘Reluctance’
This is a loose mineral eyeshadow which is “extremely gentle, free of preservatives, chemicals, dyes, talc, oils & other fillers.” ‘Reluctance’ is sort of a shimemer/metallic light sea-green with sort of a gold shift. It is very pigmented and is very easy to apply and such a beautiful color!
🍭Figs & Rouge Nourishing & Soothing hand cream
This hand cream is a very thin formula and leaves the skin really soft and smells good too!
🍬Eipce Purifying Exfoliant
This is a very gentle scrub that I think would work for all skin types it is supposed to “remove excess dirt and oil, dead skin cells, while activating collagen production”. We also recieved a very big sample size.
🍭Starlooks lipgloss ‘Guilty Pleasure’
We recieved a cute little sample of the lipgloss. I’m normally not a fan of glosses, but this formula is absolutely not sticky at all. It’s also not extremely glossy or shiny, it feels more creamy if anything. The color is a nude pink and very wearable.

(shadow swatched with no primer)

Makeup look using Mica Beauty ‘Reluctance’ and Starlooks lipgloss this is over Maybelline Color Tattoo ‘Just Beige’, and then with a wet brush to apply ‘Reluctance’.

(different lighting, direct light makes the color look lighter)

Skincare Routine💦

IMG_9372-0.JPGMy skincare routine has been the same for awhile now. I have combo/oily skin and dealt with acne a couple of years ago. I use to only use acne treatment products with salicylic acid etc. All these products were doing were stripping my skin of all oils, making the skin then produce more oil to compensate. I also never moisturized. I learned a lot when I studied skincare and started to change my routine, I stopped using acne treatment products altogether and moisturized everyday and my skin actually got better!
▫️I’m not saying this is the solution to acne, this is just what works for me & the steps I take to maintain my skin!▫️
On to the routine!:
Cleanser
I like to switch up the products but for awhile I’ve been using the Olay Fresh Effects {shine shine go away} cleanser. It is a creamy formula and a very little goes a long way. It also smells amazing (always a plus) and leaves a clean feeling w/o drying out the skin.

IMG_9380.JPGExfoliation
Typically you should exfoliate 3 times a week, or more often with a gentle scrub. Exfoliation is a deeper cleaning and helps get rid of dead skin. I actually need to buy a new scrub but these are some ones I’ve used in the past.

IMG_9387.JPGToner
Toner is a very important step as it balances out your skin and picks up any left over dirt/makeup your cleanser didn’t get. I use this right after cleanser with a cotton round. I’m currently using an Olay but another favorite of mine is Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel it is very inexpensive and works wonders on your pores!

IMG_9382.JPGMoisturizer
Like I said before I never used to use moisturizer… I was afraid it’d give me more pimples! But it’s actually what my skin needed. If you have acne prone skin they do sell moisturizer especially for oily skin type. I’m using Ponds for the daytime; it is very lightweight and I actually buy the travel sized version for under $2 at Target and they last me a loooong time! At night I use a heavier cream and it’s the Olay Regenerist Luminous which I recieved in a voxbox. It’s very hydrating and makes my skin just feel better (if that makes sense lol).

IMG_9384.JPGMasks
It’s usually recommended to use 1-2 times a week. There are so many great masks out there. It’s also really fun to make your own! I really love using the Queen Helene brand as well. It’s inexpensive and there are so many different types. The one I’m using now is mud pack masque which is great for all skin types, and revitalizes and brightens my face.
